Dime Store — a well-known brunch restaurant located in downtown Detroit, which has gained great popularity due to its original approach to dish preparation. The founders of the restaurant, Larry Kan, Ann-Marie Murphy, and Jeff Alexander, launched the establishment in 2014, aiming to add something unique to Detroit’s renaissance story.
Engaging chef Josh Taylor, a graduate of the French Culinary Institute with over 30 years of experience, they created a menu that combines classic recipes with bold, signature variations.
At Dime Store, the menu features dishes that blend sophistication and simplicity, such as Cheesesteak Benny and Duck Bop Hash, as well as creative appetizers like Bacon Parm & Truffle Fries, which have already become popular among visitors. Special seasonal offerings that change depending on the availability of fresh local ingredients are particularly noteworthy. All dishes are prepared from scratch, giving each a unique flavor and high quality.
There is also a bar at Dime Store offering a wide selection of beverages. Visitors can enjoy organic teas by Rishi, locally roasted coffee by Zingerman's, as well as a choice of craft beers, wines, and signature cocktails, which perfectly complement the relaxed and friendly atmosphere for morning or lunch meetings. The bar menu is carefully designed to harmonize with the restaurant’s culinary offerings and to satisfy various tastes.
The interior of Dime Store is styled with a stylish emphasis on Detroit’s history and character. The restaurant is decorated with a fresco featuring the symbol of the Winged Liberty, emphasizing the establishment’s connection to the city and providing a cozy atmosphere for socializing. The restaurant’s popularity has led to the opening of a second location in 2024 in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The new venue has twice as many seats, allowing for an expanded menu and some unique dishes like General Tso’s Benny, which could not be carried out in the more compact space of the first establishment.
Dime Store has received numerous awards and recognitions, including "Best Breakfast and Brunch Spot" according to MetroTimes readers and LoveFood.com. Thanks to this recognition, the place remains one of the most favorite brunch spots among Detroit residents and visitors.
