Due to high demand for issuing new foreign passports and long waiting times for available slots, the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA reminds you of the possibility to extend the validity of your foreign passport by placing a consular remark "by hand".
Who can use this?
Extension is available for passports with a valid until date:
Already expired or expiring in less than 2 months.
How does it work?
Quickly: The extension is done on the same day of application.
Free of charge: No additional costs.
Simply: The consul makes a note on pages 2–5 of the passport, extending its validity for 5 years.
Important!
Extended "by hand" passports:
Are not always recognized by US authorities or airlines. We recommend using this service only in urgent cases, such as:
- Urgent return to Ukraine.
- Obtaining consular services.
- Submitting immigration status petitions in the USA.
Do not allow visa-free entry to Schengen countries if the passport is non-biometric.

Send an email to consul_us@mfa.gov.ua with:
Your full name.
Your residence address in the USA.
A brief description of the situation.
A copy of the first page of your foreign passport.
