For many years, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Monsters have repeatedly renamed their stadium differently.
Gund Arena. Quicken Loans Arena. Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
Now - Rocket Arena.
Rock Entertainment Group announced the rebranding on Tuesday morning as part of celebrating the arena's 30th anniversary.
“Guided by the vision of Chairman Dan Gilbert, we strive to make a positive impact on our teams, clients, and fans. For 30 years, Rocket Arena has been a cornerstone of Cleveland, showcasing the energy and vibrancy of Northeast Ohio,” said Nick Barlage, CEO of Rock Entertainment Group, Cavaliers, and Rocket Arena, in a press release. “Hosting unforgettable sports and entertainment events, we bring people together across the region and beyond. As we enter a new chapter, we focus on enhancing every aspect of the Rocket Arena experience and showcasing Cleveland to the world.”
The venue, which the Cavs and Monsters call home, is also the site of many large-scale events, concerts, and shows in Cleveland.
The arena opened as Gund Arena in 1994 and has hosted over 5,000 events since then, including five NBA Finals, two NBA All-Star Games, as well as the NCAA Women’s Final Four 2024 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.
When Dan Gilbert, Chairman of Rock Entertainment Group, purchased the Cavaliers in 2005, the arena was renamed to Quicken Loans Arena.
In 2019, The Q, as some called it, was rebranded as Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse after a major renovation costing $185 million.
