EXM Manufacturing will build a distribution building in Byers Business Park in Dayton

EXM Manufacturing will expand its operations in Dayton by constructing a facility in Byers Business Park.

EXM Manufacturing, a manufacturer and distributor of enclosures for electrical cabinets used in industry, plans to build a 22,500-square-foot distribution building at 2555 Benner Road.

The Miami Township Planning Commission approved the site plan for this project at its latest meeting. According to documents submitted for the commission's review, EXM will use the facility in Miami Township for storing and distributing electrical cabinet enclosures.
The building will occupy 1.5 acres. According to documents, the majority of the building will be designated for warehouse and manufacturing needs.

A 1,000-square-foot area in the southeast corner of the building will be allocated for office space.

EXM was founded in Quebec in 1975 and now has offices in Alberta and Ontario, Canada, as well as in China. The company's office at 2279 Arbor Blvd. in Morn is its only representation in the USA, aside from one in Fort Worth, Texas.

According to Miami Township documents, Byers Business Park consists of four buildings, ranging from 30,000 to 72,000 square feet. The proposed new construction will be the smallest building in the business park, officials noted.

Byers Business Park is home to several companies such as Nautilus Hyosung, Blachford, Buckeye Ecocare, and the North American headquarters of Dayton Superior Corporation. Chris Fain, the city’s director of development, said that it was always envisioned that the park would contain five buildings.

"This new building will complete the concept of the park," said Fain.

Byers Business Park is located within Austin Business Park, an 80-acre site offering Class A office and warehouse space. It was developed by BW Partners Ltd., a joint venture of Mark Fornes Realty Inc. and Construction Managers of Ohio.

Fain previously told the Dayton Daily News in an interview that Austin Business Park has been a huge success for the city’s development.

"High-quality, flexible spaces are attractive in the market, as evidenced by the situation we observe along Byers Road," he said.
